Details

The manufacturer has developed a new manufacturing process to create high-quality packaging dividers that are easy to assemble and use. The dividers are made of light-weight, soft, flexible materials to cushion contents during transit and flatten when not in use, allowing for easy storage and transport. Compared with bulkier, more rigid, die-cut corrugated dividers, the solution significantly reduces shipping and storage requirements, and often allows more product to be shipped per case. The new dividers come in a range of materials including PE coated corrugated and bubble wrap.

The new range of dividers was developed by ITB Packaging of the USA.

Potential Benefits

The solution offers a number of benefits compared to rigid corrugated dividers:
  • Reduced packaging material use
  • Improved shipping efficiency during delivery to the packer/filler
  • Potentially improved cube efficiency for packed products (for example, one parts supplier found they could increase packing quantities from 20 units per case to 24 due to the less bulky nature of the dividers.

Although this solution has been designed for and is currently primarily used for business-to-business distribution systems (e.g. supply of automotive parts) it could potentially be transferred tot he supply chains for food and non-food groceries and for the home improvement sectors.
