Details

This dispensing system comprising only 4 parts reduces CO2 emissions by 30% compared to a classic piston-based airless dispenser made of 12 parts.  Ecosolution™ is a very compact airless packaging solution (considering ratio between formula volume and packaging volume). Compared to a piston-based airless dispenser, Ecosolution™ enables the reduction of packaging volume by 30%.
 
The AirFree® technology used in the Ecosolution™ multi-layer co-extruded bottle can also be produced in recycled raw material (Post Consumer Recycled HDPE). In this case, the external layer is totally made of recycled PE and represents 85% of the total raw material weight of the bottle, while the internal multi-layers of the pouch that is in contact with the formula, is made from virgin PE. The pouch contains EVOH, a barrier material that blocks all odor migration and guarantees the integrity of the formula.
 
AirFree®technology and Ecosolution™ dispenser packs are made by Promens of Eccles.

Potential Benefits

The main benefits of this technology are in the reduction of packaging materials when compared to other dispensing technology solutions.  The manufacturer claims up to 66% reduction in the number of parts used in its eco-solution  airless dispenser packaging, leading to a 30% reduction in carbon impact.  Whilst this product is currently in use with health & beauty products is could also be used for certain food products where its oxygen barrier properties could help to protect product quality and extend shelf life.
 
The reduced number of parts in this solution and use of Polypropylene and Polyeurethane ensure that the packaging is 100% recyclable.
